TikTok safe zone

TikTok's published safe zone is an ads template, not a promise about the For You page. On a 1080×1920 frame the in-feed guide scales to 240 px top, 660 px bottom, and 120 px on each side. The like, comment, and share column sits on the right from about y=840 and is wider than that side margin.

Organic apps disagree with the ads template. Measured mode draws the high end of the range people actually report: 200 top, 500 bottom, 250 on the right. Drop a clip and ClipLint will tell you if burned-in text or a face lands in either picture.

Drop a clip

MP4, MOV, WebM, or a thumbnail. Duration, resolution, aspect, fps, codec, and file size are read here. Nothing is uploaded.

What to do with it

  • Keep the first line of a caption above the bottom 660 px if you are matching the ads guide.
  • The right rail is where a facecam or a subscribe bug usually dies. The column in official mode is 300×420 starting at x=780, y=840.
  • A 16:9 gameplay capture is not rejected by TikTok's web uploader, but the player crops it. Use the cover preview to see what survives.
  • Web uploads can run 30 minutes and 10 GB. Creator Rewards still wants a clip over one minute.

TikTok specs

Web uploads through TikTok Studio run up to 30 minutes. 720×1280 is the published floor and 1080×1920 is the size creators should actually export.

Official safe zone, 1080×1920

240 top / 660 bottom / 120 left / 120 right

Scaled ×1.5 from TikTok's 720×1280 in-feed template (top 160, bottom 440, sides 80). The right action column is an approximate cited range of about 180–300 px wide starting near y=840; this overlay draws the wide end, 300×420.

Measured safe zone, 1080×1920

200 top / 500 bottom / 0 left / 250 right

Organic write-ups disagree: top 130–200, bottom 370–500, right rail 140–250. Measured mode draws the high end of that range. A left inset is not consistently published, so it stays 0. See also https://www.socialync.io/tools/safe-zones.

Questions

What is the TikTok safe zone in pixels?

On 1080×1920, ClipLint's official mode uses 240 top, 660 bottom, 120 left, and 120 right, scaled from TikTok's 720×1280 in-feed template (160 / 440 / 80). Measured mode uses 200 / 500 / 0 / 250 because organic estimates in the October 2026 research pass ranged from 130–200 top, 370–500 bottom, and 140–250 on the right.

Does the safe zone include the like button?

The side margin does not. Official mode adds a separate action column, about 300 px wide, from y=840. That rectangle is marked as an approximation, not a pixel-perfect spec from TikTok.

Will this upload my video?

No. Probing, the overlay, text and face checks, and the ffmpeg export all run in the browser.
