2026 pixels, ratio, and the keep-out
Reels dimensions in pixels are 1080 wide by 1920 tall. That is the number to type into Premiere, DaVinci, CapCut, or an OBS canvas. The aspect is 9:16. Instagram also accepts up to 1.91:1, which is why a 1920×1080 file does not always fail the Reels card.
Dimensions are not the safe zone. A perfectly sized 1080×1920 Reel can still hide a caption under the username row. The bottom keep-out on the ads guide is 672 px.
MP4, MOV, WebM, or a thumbnail. Duration, resolution, aspect, fps, codec, and file size are read here. Nothing is uploaded.
Reels can run 20 minutes, but anything past 3 minutes is a poor bet for new audiences. The Help Center wants at least 30 fps.

Assumed identical to Instagram Reels (14% / 35% / 6% / 6%) because Meta's Reels ads guidance uses one safe zone for both apps. Not confirmed for the Facebook organic player. See also https://sproutsocial.com/insights/social-media-video-specs-guide.

1080×1920. Minimum short edge 720 px on Instagram. Facebook's API minimum is 540×960. The recommended size is the same on both.
1080×1920 is the standard. 720×1280 is the smaller 9:16 that still clears TikTok's floor and YouTube's vertical minimum.
The recommended frame is the same 1080×1920. The safe zones are not. Shorts reserves 192 px on the right. Reels reserves 65.
