Facebook Reels safe zone

Meta's June 2025 note says Facebook video is now Reels and the organic length cap is gone. The safe zone did not get its own page. The ads guide still uses one Reels diagram for Instagram and Facebook, so official mode here is the same 269 / 672 / 65 / 65 frame, marked as cited rather than confirmed for the Facebook player.

The Page API is a different, stricter object: 3 to 90 seconds, 540×960 minimum, 9:16 recommended. A 4 minute organic Reel can be fine in the app and still warn on the API rule.

Drop a clip

MP4, MOV, WebM, or a thumbnail. Duration, resolution, aspect, fps, codec, and file size are read here. Nothing is uploaded.

What to do with it

  • Do not treat the overlay as a Facebook-specific measurement. The note on the zone says it is borrowed from the shared Reels ads guide.
  • There is no measured mode for Facebook. The toggle will not invent one.
  • 24 fps passes the Facebook range cited here and fails Instagram. Export 30 fps if the clip has to live on both.
  • No file-size number is encoded. Secondary pages mention 1 GB and 4 GB and the research pass did not verify them.

Facebook Reels specs

As of June 2025 Meta treats Facebook video as Reels and dropped the organic length cap. The Page API is still 3–90 seconds.

Official safe zone, 1080×1920

269 top / 672 bottom / 65 left / 65 right

Assumed identical to Instagram Reels (14% / 35% / 6% / 6%) because Meta's Reels ads guidance uses one safe zone for both apps. Not confirmed for the Facebook organic player. See also https://sproutsocial.com/insights/social-media-video-specs-guide.

Questions

Are Facebook and Instagram Reels safe zones the same?

ClipLint assumes they are, because Meta's ads guide uses one diagram. That assumption is labeled on the zone. It is not a measurement of the Facebook app.

Is there a Facebook Reel length limit?

Organic video has no length limit as of the June 2025 Meta announcement. The Page API still cites 3–90 seconds. ClipLint warns above 90 seconds instead of failing the file.

What resolution should I export?

1080×1920. The API minimum cited for a vertical Reel is 540×960.
